2018 “IT is for Girls” Summer Camp

July 16th-July 20th, 2018

Monday:
a. Check-in is between 8.15 to 8.40 am (The program will begin at 8.45 am sharp)  – Bryan School of Business and Economics, Room 122. (Oakland parking is behind yumyum’s and closest available parking, families attending the morning session will get a free parking pass for Oakland parking only).

b. Pickup time is between 4.30 and 4.45 pm.  This is outside Bryan Building (the entrance closest to School of Education Building).
Monday to Thursday
a. Check-in is between 8.30 to 8.40 am (The program will begin at 8.45 am.) Please note check-in for Tue to Thursday is in Bryan Building Room 122.
b.   Pickup time is between 4.30 and 4.45 pm. This is outside Bryan Building (the entrance closest to School of Education Building).

Robotics Creation

Tuesday PM: 

Girls SPEAK:  A session on Leadership/Communication/Collaboration

Technology Tools for Representation, Discovery, and Communication.

Wednesday PM: 

Field Trip to Analog Devices or Digital Media Commons

Thursday PM: 

Work on Your Group Projects

Friday:
a. Check-in is between 8.30 to 8.40 am (The program will begin at 8.45 am.)
Parents are welcome to join their students any time from lunch to end of day based on their convenience.
12.15 pm to 1.15 pm – Lunch in UNCG Dining Hall (Parents and other guests must pay for their lunch only students eat free; cost about $9 for adults; $4.75 for kids 10 and under; kids under 3 free)

Friday PM:
1.30 pm to about 2.45 pm is project presentations to be judged for awards (Bryan 114 and Bryan 122)
2.45 pm to 4 pm is presentation of finalists, awards and conclusion. – Bryan School of Business, Room 122.
b. Pick-up at 4 pm or end of awards ceremony to 4.30 pm. This is outside Bryan School of Business..

FYI

On Monday and Tuesday students will be introduced to different hands-on activities such as Animation, Internet of Things (IoTs), Film Festival (creating/editing videos), Lego Robotics and Mobile App development. Each session will be for about 75 to 90 minutes.

From Wednesday onwards each student will be assigned to one of the activities above (they will be asked to provide their top 3 preferences) and will be given a project to complete by Friday noon. They will work in small teams to complete the project. Each team will present their project Friday afternoon. Judges will evaluate projects for awards.
